I once did test compiles this way for a system I had no complete toolchain for (though with earlier gcc versions, but the RTS configure/build should be relatively independent of gcc versions). You'll need system headers as well, though (and libraries if you want to link, of course), and I don't know if Mac OSX's are freely distributable. Frank
